Graham Booth studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art from 1994 to 1997.
Graham Booth’s talent as a painter is displayed through the beauty of the four fish which swim excitedly through the calm water; he paints them in a translucent, yet highly naturalistic way. Their beautiful orange and gold skin reflects the dappled light from the water’s surface and contrast with the dark pebbles in the background. The name, Fish: Christ God’s Son Saviour, makes us think about The Trinity and religion. The fish has a number of meanings in religious symbolism: Christ fed the 5,000 with 2 fishes and 5 loaves and called his disciples “fishers of men”. The Greek word for fish is ‘ichthys’ and in the first century Christians made an acrostic from this word which translates to, ‘Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour’.
