Trees and Seasons (Winter)

Ruth Beardsworth trained as a printmaker at Preston Polytechnic and Manchester Polytechnic. She has a particular interest in nature and landscapes and much of her work reflects this, condensing the features of the natural world to marks and symbols. Beardsworth has won several awards, including the Shell Expo Award 1992, the Scottish Arts Council Project Assistance Award and the Glasgow Print Studio Publication Award. She has exhibited widely and, in addition to NHS Fife’s collection, has work in many others, including the art collections of Creative Scotland and BBC Scotland.

Ruth has drawn on her previous career as a commercial screen-printer since becoming an artist, working primarily in printmaking, but incorporating many methods and some found materials into her work. Often starting from the minutest organic detail, she has always created works concerned with the natural world.
