Victor Vasarely (1906-1997) was a Hungarian-French artist who studied medicine before changing his career path to become a graphic designer and poster artist. This artwork represents his later art style, which portrays brightly coloured optical illusions, that show both a highly skilled, technical artist but also a playful side to his paintings. This eye catching, abstract work incorporates acrylic and gouache. Vasarely is now widely regarded as the grandfather of optical art movement, and went on to win many awards in his art career.
NHS Fife recognises the importance that art plays in creating an environment conducive to good health and well being. Our collection of artwork is intended to be enjoyed by patients, their visitors and staff alike.
