Mary-Clare Cornwallis is a botanical watercolourist with her first mentors being the Scottish artists Archie Sutter-Watt and Valerie Sadler. She lives and paints full time in South West Scotland and draws on the beautiful natural surroundings of her home for inspiration. Mary-Clare’s love of nature- plants, birds, animals, etc- stems from her childhood growing up in the county of Kent, known as ‘the Garden of England’. She works mainly in water colour and has recently moved away from precise botanical accuracy to produce images which catch the eye and spur the imagination.
