Josephine Gillespie was born in the Philippines where she grew up and studied, graduating with a BSc degree in Chemical Engineering. She and her husband moved to Fife in 1989 where she started attending watercolour classes at Forgan Arts Centre in Newport-on-Tay and completed a Fine Art Development course at Dundee College in 2006. Josephine is a versatile artist working in a variety of media including watercolour, acrylic, pastel and mixed media. Her favourite subjects are figures, still lifes, trees, and coastal village scenes. She also works as an illustrator for DC Thomson. Josephine is a participant in the yearly North Fife Open Studios exhibition on the 1st and 2nd weekend of May and the Pittenweem Arts Festival held every 1st to 2nd weekend of August.
