Cat Outram's characteristic medium is etching and she specialises in flowers and landscape. She says of her work that:

"My inspiration is light. It is usually the first thing to catch my eye: details caught in sunlight or long shadows. After that I love fine details, the texture and shape of things. Most of my work falls into one of three categories: views of Edinburgh, flowers, or collections of natural and man-made objects."

Outram was born in 1959 in Nairobi, Kenya. She emigrated to the UK in 1966 and settled in Edinburgh. She studied Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art College from 1977 to 1981.

NHS Fife recognises the importance that art plays in creating an environment conducive to good health and well being. Our collection of artwork is intended to be enjoyed by patients, their visitors and staff alike.
