Malcolm McCoig was born in Greenock in 1941 and studied at Glasgow School of Art where he also completed a postgraduate course. He won the Scott Dudley-Hill prize at the Bradford International Print Biennale of 1970 and lectured at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen from 1964 until 1995. He was a founder member and past Chairman of Peacock Printmakers in Aberdeen and was also Art Advisor and Chairman of Grampian Hospitals Art Trust. He has lectured abroad and exhibited widely throughout his career.
