Born and brought up in Georgetown, Guyana, Bob Batchelor was the son of a Guyanese mother and a Scottish father. Bob Batchelor suffered TB and malaria as a child but won a scholarship to Guyana’s Queen’s College and came to Scotland in 1946 to study Drawing and Painting at Gray’s School of Art. He returned briefly to Georgetown but lived in the North East of Scotland for the rest of his life where he was an artist and teacher. He began as a landscape and portrait painter but soon focused on painting flowers and was a founder member of Peacock Printmakers in Aberdeen. Bob Batchelor’s love of the form and colour of flowers shines through his work.

NHS Fife recognises the importance that art plays in creating an environment conducive to good health and well being. Our collection of artwork is intended to be enjoyed by patients, their visitors and staff alike.
